Presented is a great set of 11 European silver figural handle spoons. These spoons date to the second half of the 1800s and are likely of German make. The spoons have a typical apostle figure as the terminal of their handles, but unlike the common 12 apostle set it is the same figure repeated each time. The figure is that of a robed man, wearing a head covering of some kind and carrying a staff. The spoons have twist form shafts between the bowls and the terminals. The bowls of the spoons have the remnants of a gold wash.
This piece is in great overall condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The spoons are not stamped or hallmarked that we can find, but we have tested them and guarantee them to be 800-850 purity silver.
Each spoon is about 4 7/8 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 190 grams or 6.7 regular ounces.
