Presented is a fine American Coin silver twist handle cream or gravy ladle from the mid 19th century. This fine ladle was made by James E. Caldwell & Co., now called J.E. Caldwell and still in business in Philadelphia, PA today as a jeweler. This piece has a pointed handle, a twisted stem, and a wide shallow bowl. The handle is engraved with leaves and other designs in hand rendered work. The piece is quite pretty. This piece was probably made the 1840s or 1850s.
The ladle is hallmarked on the back of the stem with James E. Caldwell & Co. Pure Coin. The ladle is in good condition and only shows minor signs of wear and a single minor dent the bowl. There are no cracks, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, no repairs, and no problems of any kind.
The ladle is 7 1/2 inches long. The ladle weighs 48 grams.
