c1830s-1850s Huge German Silver Thalheim Fiddle Stuffing Serving Spoon
Presented is a great German silver serving spoon from around the 1830s-1850s. The spoon has a simple, traditional form with a Fiddle pattern style terminal. The bowl of the spoon is quite large, suitable for a wide variety of serving purposes. The back of the terminal has an old pinprick inscription reading L. Goldman und Frau.
The spoon is hallmarked with a crowned A, probably a city mark, as well as Thalheim and the 12 loth mark. The loth system can be out of 16 or out of 15, so this is at least 750 purity silver or possibly higher, like 800 purity.
This piece is in great condition. There are a few dings here and there, but nothing of any consequence in our opinion. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The spoon is about 13 7/8 inches long.
The spoon weighs 137 grams or 4.8 regular ounces.
