c1790 Old Sheffield Fused Silver Plate Georgian Bear Crest Swing Handle Basket

Presented is an English Georgian, silver-plate swing handle basket made during the late 18th or early 19th century. The basket is raised on a pedestal base and has a lovely copperish-gold wash on the inside of the bowl. One side has a fine quality, hand engraved crest of a bear. The swing handle is tightly hinged and stands on its own.

This piece is in great overall condition for its age. There is some minor surface wear and some wear to the silver plating on some high points, as you can see in the photographs. There are no major damages or repairs.

The body measures 4 1/4 by 5 7/8 inches and is 4 1/2 inches tall. The basket is 7 1/4 inches tall with the handle upright.
