Presented is a marvelous Limoges porcelain plate. The plate is hand painted with a portrait of a young boy holding a bow and arrow at the center. A river scene with trees and flowers forms the background. The outer edge of the plate has a border of yellow flowers done in a somewhat Art Nouveau design. The portrait of the young boy appears to have been modeled after the work of one of the old Dutch masters, although the bright background is certainly not done in that style. An interesting and beautifully painted adaptation of a Dutch master portrait.
The plate is marked on the underside with CFH for Charles Field Haviland of Limoges France. This piece was made in the 1890s.
The condition is excellent. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing, no breaks, and no repairs.
