BEST 1850s Set of 4 Chinese Export Silver Knives Bamboo by Khecheong 7 3/4"
Regular price
$1,216.00
Presented is a beautiful set of 4 Chinese export silver knives from the mid-1800s, circa 1835-1870. This set displays elegant bamboo stalks and leaves along both the front and back of the handle. One side has a small cartouche with the monogram TTA in a Gothic script. We found information on this set from the book “Chinese Export Silver 1785 to 1885” by H.A. Crosby Forbes, John Devereux Kernan and Ruth S. Wilkins. The knives that we are selling are the exact same pattern and have the exact monogram as the one illustrated in the book. Both pieces are almost certainly from the same original set.
The whole knife is silver. One side of the blade is marked with the maker's mark, KHC, for Khecheong. The knives have been tested and are 900 purity silver.
This set is in excellent condition. The pattern decorations on both sides are crisp. Each blade has minor wear to the edge. There are no splits, no knife marks, no breaks, and no repairs.
Length: 7 3/4 inches
Weight: 234 grams or 8.25 ounces -kc
