Presented is a superb quality sterling silver covered dish/round box, dating to around the 1940s-1950s. This piece was made by Mueck-Carey, a well-regarded New York silver company later absorbed into Towle. The box is made in a lovely form featuring a band of floral openwork decoration around the upper portion of the foot, very much in the style of La Paglia pieces. The finial of the lid matches, done in the form of a little taper of flowers. Great as a dresser box, covered candy dish, etc.

This piece is in excellent overall condition. The lid has a tiny ding, which is not very noticeable. There are two little abrasions on one side, more to the lower portion of the body so they are hard to see without picking it up. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

This piece is stamped with the maker's mark for Mueck-Carey as well as sterling and a product number 1117.

The box measures about 4 1/2 inches in diameter and measures about 2 7/8 inches to the rim, or 4 7/8 inches to the top of the finial of the lid.

This piece weighs 250 grams or 8.8 regular ounces. -jm
