Presented is a lovely vintage 14 karat gold, sapphire, ruby and pearl charm or pendant in the shape of a purse. This is an American piece, dating to around the 1950s. The charm is very cleverly designed, with a little chain for the 'strap,' and it really opens and snaps shut. The top of the purse has two pearls to serve as the clasp. The front of the purse is prong set with four rubies and four sapphires, in the cornices of the openwork lattice design. The reverse is set with a single seed pearl. This is a very neat piece of jewelry, very charming and well made.
The charm is stamped 14k on the interior of each side, beneath the pearl.
The charm is about 1 1/2 inches long, including the length of the purse 'strap' chain and bail/loop at the top. The width of the purse is about 7/8 of an inch.
This piece weighs 7.7 grams.
