Presented is a Persian silver dish from the 1920s-1940s. This piece has a stunning hand-engraved pattern on the base and the fluted top. Each section of the fluted top displays intricate palmettes, scrolls and birds in many of the small cartouches. The piece has a scalloped edge. The lip around the center opening leads us to believe that this piece use to have a lid or insert that went around just the center bowl. A glass bowl could easily be inserted into the center section for a dip. The base of the bowl has a beautiful floral design.
We were not able to find any marks on the dish. We have tested and guarantee that this piece is approximately .900 purity silver.
This piece is in great condition. There are some scratches on the side of the center bowl, but because of the width of the fluted top, the wear would not be visible from a table view.
Measurements: 9 3/4 inches across the top, 3 inches across center opening, 3 1/2 inches tall Base 3 inches in diameter
Weight: 690 grams or 24.3 ounces -kc
