Beautiful Metal Easel Back Stand Holder w/ 8" Mirror 1896 Peter Wiederer
Regular price
$152.00
Presented is a beautiful easel back mirror from 1896. This piece has a round mirror with a scalloped edge. It it likely that this edge was once wrapped. The metal easel, which is probably silver-plated, displays a woman on a bicycle going down a path with bushes and a fence. The metal details are crisp and clean.
This piece is marked on the backside of the frame “copyright, 1896, by Peter Wiederer” There is a solder mark through the first name of the maker, but from what we can see, we believe this to be Peter Wiederer who was a New York metalworker at the time.
This piece is in great condition. There is evidence of repairs on the back side of the metal. There is a split that has been soldered. It also appears that the easel back has been reattached. The mirror itself is in great shape. It is not foggy or severely chipped. The easel hinge is firm but still moves well, so the tilt of the piece can be easily adjusted. There are no monograms or monogram removals.
Measurements: 9 inches tall, 8 1/2 inches across
Mirror: 8 inches in diameter -kc
