Presented is a beautiful Japanese porcelain dish or bowl in a classic Imari motif. This piece was made in the mid-late 1800s and displays rich reds, blue and gold hues. The bowl is in a fluted shell shape and displays a large scene displaying two birds around a floral tree and a cobalt blue pot holding a bouquet of flowers. The piece has a great blue boarder with red and green patterns which align into the shell form.
This bowl is in great overall condition. There is some wear to the gilding, but the other colors are clear and bright. There is a small line on the base that is not a crack but a fissure that was produced in the making of the piece. This can be seen in the 7th photo on the foot rim at the 4 o'clock position. There are no breaks and no repairs.
