Regular price
$296.00
Presented is a wonderful vintage or antique silver purse frame, made in Rome in the 1910s-1930s. The frame is done in a beautiful openwork design featuring a classical genre scene of cavorting putti in a forest, surrounded by scrollwork and clusters of grapes and other fruit. All the decoration is richly detailed and well done, with fine hand engraved texturing. The frame has an attached chain consisting of long oval links interspersed with little silver filigree connectors with a design of flowers and scrolls, just as crisp and detailed as the frame itself. The frame has little holes around the bottom where a purse could be sewn into place, and would look equally lovely with a simple purse in a solid color of velvet or married to a vintage embroidered or beadwork piece.
This piece is in excellent condition. The details of the decoration are nice and crisp. The clasp and hings are working well. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The purse is stamped 800 for the purity of the silver as well as “Exremos Roma.
The frame is about 6 1/2 inches wide and measures about 5 inches from the clasp to the bottom hinges.
The frame weighs 194 grams or 6.8 regular ounces. -jm
