Beautiful Antique Art Nouveau German Silver Floral Pastry Server w Pierced Blade
Regular price
$98.00
Presented is an excellent quality German 800 silver handle pastry or pancake server. This piece dates to the late 1800s or very early 1900s and is made very much in the Art Nouveau style of the time. The handle is silver beautifully decorated with sinuous, naturalistic flowers, that look like irises or another water flower perhaps. The blade is not silver, but has a gold wash and is fabulously hand engraved and pierced with further floral decoration. The terminal of the handle has a very intricately engraved monogram of the initial A.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is stamped on both sides of the collar of the handle, but the mark is hard to make out in the photos, slightly more legible in person. The German crescent moon and crown and 800 for the purity of the silver can be made out, but the maker's mark is indistinct.
The server measures about 10 inches long.
This piece weighs 107 grams or 3.8 regular ounces. -jm
