Attractive Vintage 14k Gold Diamond & Sapphire Ring
Presented is a charming 14 karat gold, diamond and sapphire ring. This is an American ring, made around 1910-1920. The ring is bezel set with a sapphire between two diamonds. The sapphire is about 85 points in size, with lovely rich blue color. The diamonds are old mine cut stones of about 35 points each in size, for a total diamond weight of about 70 points, just shy of three quarters of a carat. One diamond is about SI clarity, while the other is about VS-2, though both are eye clean. The diamonds are H color. This is a very flattering and attractive ring, suitable for a man or a woman.
The ring is in great overall condition. The sapphire and diamonds are securely set. The sapphire has some surface abrasions, but nothing that stands out without close inspection under good light and magnification. The ring looks like it had a high karat, bright yellow gold plating at one point in time, which has mostly worn away, leaving the more mellow 14 karat gold lustre beneath. There are no breaks and no repairs to the band.
The band is stamped and guaranteed 14k and has a maker's mark of M-R.
The ring is a size 7 1/2.
The ring weighs 5.5 grams.
