Antique Whiting Louis XV 1891 Sterling Silver Wedding Cake Saw Knife

Presented is a fabulous Whiting sterling silver cake knife or cake saw. This piece is done in the classical Louis XV pattern, which began production in 1891. This is a classic pattern with a scroll motif on the handles. The blade has a serrated edge. The entirety of the cake knife is sterling silver, both the handle and the blade.

This piece is in great overall condition. There has been a professional monogram removal to the terminal of the handle, but this is hard to notice and the silver is easily thick enough to be re-monogrammed. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, and no repairs.

The handle of the piece is stamped 'sterling' and with the maker's mark for Whiting, as well as a patent date of 1891. The blade is also stamped sterling.

The cake saw is about 12 1/4 inches long.

The cake saw weighs 164 grams or 5.9 regular ounces.
