Antique Victorian 1868 English Sterling Silver Engraved Crumber Fish Server 14"
Regular price
$378.00
Presented is a beautifully hand crafted, English sterling silver fish server or crumber made by John Gilbert of Birmingham in 1868. This Victorian piece is completely hand engraved with flowing scrolls and leaves. This antique piece could be used to serve anything, and the lip along the back of the base is great at collecting juices or sauce.
The handle collar and blade are marked with the anchor mark for Birmingham, the lion passant for sterling silver purity, a duty mark of Queen Victoria's head, a date letter T for the year 1868 and a maker's mark for John Gilbert.
This piece is in good overall condition for its age. The engravings on the blade or base are pretty crisp, but there is some wear to the engravings on the handle and we believe a monogram removal. There is a small dent to the tip of the handle.
Length: 14 inches.
Weight: 295 grams. (There is some weighting in the handle, but the majority of the weight is definitely sterling silver weight, at least 200 grams worth.)
