Antique Victorian 1858 English Sterling Silver Fish Fork Knife Serving Set
Regular price
$828.00
Presented is a decorative, English sterling silver and natural material fish serving set made by Harrison Brothers & Howson of Sheffield in 1858. The handles are actually a natural material with fabulous cross-hatching and graining. The tines of the fork and the blade of the knife are thick, solid sterling silver. They are incredibly engraved with beautiful flowers and leaves. There is also fabulous butterfly design on the knife. The sterling parts are thick and heavy and definitely account for more than half of the total weight of the set.
The tines of the fork and the blade of the knife are marked with the crown for Sheffield, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter P for the year 1858 and a maker’s mark HH for Harrison Brothers & Howson.
This set is in excellent overall condition. The handles have natural splits to them, but they are still structurally sound and are firm in their silver collars. There are no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The fork measures 9 1/2 inches long, the knife measures 12 1/2 inches long and the combined weight of the pair is 310 grams or 10.9 ounces.
