Presented is a generously-sized antique English pottery ewer from the first half of the 1800's. The pitcher is hand-painted in a provincial or folk art style with indigo blue and maroon flowers, midnight green foliage and dark taupe brown flowing stems and curling leaves against a bisque background.

The condition of the pitcher is good with no obvious flaws. The painted designs are bold and bright, the glaze has nice luster and the piece displays beautifully. The handle is perfect. The lip of the ceramic has a one inch, tight hairline. There is a light spider crack of 1 1/2 inches length and some crazing in the base. There is also a decades-old repair to the front of the foot rim where you will see two spots of yellowish paint. A trivial bow of the footrim causes a slight lateral wobble as well. Look at our well-focused photos and you will see how insignificant these issues are!

Dimension: 10 3/8 inches tall by 6 1/2 inches wide at the belly with a capacity of 2 1/2 liters or about 84 ounces.
