Presented is an antique, sterling silver serving spoon made by the Whiting Manufacturing Company during the late 1800s or early 1900s. This piece is in the Louis XV pattern, which was patented in 1891 and it is old, original production. The handle is cast with raised flourishes along the edge and the front has a script monogram of the initials JJ. The large, matte finish bowl has a gold wash.
The back is marked for Whiting, sterling, patent 1891 and a retailer’s mark for W. Schweigert.
This piece is in great overall condition and the designs are crisp. There is minor surface wear commensurate with age and use, but no damages and no repairs.
