Presented is a fine old Dedham pottery bowl, in the classic Rabbit pattern. This pattern, as the name suggests, features a charming border made up of crouching rabbits in rich cobalt blue, against the classic Dedham white crackle glaze, their most iconic and well known pattern. This is a real signed Dedham piece dating to the early 1900s, not a modern repro by the Potting Shed/Pottery Shed or the like. Please read the condition statement of this antique pottery item carefully.
The underside is signed with the Dedham Pottery 'crouching rabbit' mark in underglaze blue, fairly strong and legible.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. The bowl rings well when tapped. The side of the foot rim, as pointed out in the fifth photograph, has what looks like a chip, but this is in the making of the piece, from before it was glazed—the glaze covers over it. There is no discoloration, and there are no chips, no breaks, and no repairs.
The bowl measures about 4 1/2 inches in diameter and stands about 1 7/8 inches tall at the rim. -jm
