Presented is a fine example of late 19th century Japanese mixed metal damascene inlay. This is a lovely jewelry or trinket box. The lid features a detailed, scenic gold landscape with a snow capped peak of Mt. Fuji inlaid in silver in the background. The inlaid metals are mostly gold, some silver and some copper. The inside of the box is also decorative, as you see in the photographs. The box closes securely with no gaps.
The underside has a maker's mark.
The box is in excellent overall condition. There is a tiny piece of the hinge that sticks out, but it doesn't affect the way it works at all.
The box measures 5 1/4 by 3 5/8 inches and is 1 7/8 inches tall.
