Presented is a fine sterling silver trophy made by Gorham Manufacturing Company for the Book and Snake Society at Yale University. This beautiful three-handled trophy, or loving cup, was custom made for the class of 1908 and is believed to have been presented a second time on September 29, 1917, to Gerald Lewis Buhrman. The piece has significant weight, reflecting its substantial sterling silver construction.

The trophy features fifteen names listed on one of its three sides, commemorating members of this prestigious society. The Book and Snake Society is an exclusive senior society at Yale University founded in 1863, making it the fifth oldest society at the university.

The piece measures 7 1/8 inches tall, approximately 9 inches from handle to handle, and 5 1/8 inches at the base. There is a small dent to the base where it touches the table, which does not affect the piece functionally—the trophy sits flat with no rocking.

Condition: The trophy is in excellent condition with no breaks, no repairs, no monogram removals, and no other problems.
