Presented is an antique, sterling silver berry strainer or pierced ladle made by Gorham during the 19th century. This piece is in the Grecian pattern, which was patented in 1861 and it is old, original production. The top of the handle is done in a decorative, shell form and the back has a Gothic style monogram of the initials ACN. The ruffled, pierced ladle has a gold wash.
The back is marked for Gorham, patent 1861, sterling silver purity and has a retailer's mark for Dexter & Haskins.
This piece is in great condition and the designs are crisp. There is minor surface wear commensurate with age and use, but no damages and no repairs.
