Presented is an antique German, silver tray depicting cherubs in a pastoral setting playing music. The tray was likely produced in the late 1800's and is a spectacular example of hand-crafted metalwork in both repousse and hand chased silver art. The finesse seen in the cherubs faces and forms, and the refined detail in the musical manuscripts and cherub wings is particularly exceptional. Three, beautifully hand-formed cut-out design patterns comprise the sides of this elegant tray.
The tray contains no monogram or inscriptions. There is a hallmark indicating 800 silver purity stamped on the inside of the middle band.
The condition of the tray is very good with a few tiny flaws, but bright and crisp overall.
