Presented is a silver two-piece alcohol or oil lamp (or essential oil diffuser) with a leopard or other jungle feline as the handle! This really interesting antique, probably made in Paris or Lille France, mid-1800's from 80 percent or more solid silver, consists of two pieces, a pedestaled cup with animal handle, and the perfectly fitting cover with a hole in the top where the wick, or perfume, if used as a scent diffuser, comes through.
The rim of the cup and the cover are both hallmarked with a triad of fleur-de-lis (early sixteenth century French royal flag) and the number "3".
The condition of the piece is fantastic. You will see old assayers marks on the underside of the pedestal and inside the cup.
