Presented is a wonderful antique 14 karat yellow gold signet ring. This ring dates to the early 1900s and was made in America. The head of the ring is round, with a finely engraved monogram of RJM, done in flowing script. The gold is quite thick, so this monogram could be removed by a professional jeweler, and replaced with your own initials, crest, seal, or whatever else you like. The shoulders of the ring have an elegant spiral design, with a little trefoil on either side, nicely detailed with hand engraved elements. The ring is quite well made and has a nice feeling of weight and quality to it.

The ring is stamped 14k. We have tested the ring with nitric acid and guarantee it to be at least 13 karat gold purity*.

This piece is in excellent condition. The decoration and the engraved letters are nice and crisp.

The ring is a size 10.

The head of the ring measures about 15.8 millimeters north to south while the band measures about 3.5 millimeters wide at the narrowest point.

This ring weighs 8.6 grams.

*We test all pieces via acid and stone test, which is a reliable industry standard method. The National Stamping Act of 1906 (USA) allowed a deviation of as much as one karat from the stamped gold content on gold articles; this was not amended to a stricter standard until 1976 (effective 1981). This means that gold jewelry made in the USA during that time frame may vary from the stamped karat by as much as one karat, while jewelry made before could vary even more, not be marked or assayed in the first place, etc. Therefore, we guarantee all pieces to have a gold content within one karat of the purity indicated via acid test. This means 10k could be 9-11k, 14k could be 13-15k, 18k could be 17-19k, etc. There will never be a noticeable difference in terms of the look or durability of the piece, ONLY how it tests using X-ray fluorescence testing equipment. -jm
