Presented is a wonderful antique Japanese bronze figurine. This is the figure of Fukurokuju, a revered deity in Japanese mythology, one of the Seven Lucky Gods (Shichi-fuku-jin), known as the god of wisdom, longevity, wealth, and happiness, often depicted as a bald, short old man with an exceptionally large, elongated head and sometimes accompanied by a crane or deer, symbolizing long life. He originated from a Chinese Taoist sage, embodying the celestial powers of the south polar star, and is unique among the lucky gods for his ability to revive the dead.
The walking stick is real wood, and can be taken out of the figure's hand. The other hand holds a peach, We are not certain of the age of this piece, but it is without a doubt antique, possibly as old as the 1700s.
