Presented is an antique, sterling silver punch or soup ladle made by Gorham during the mid or late 19th century. The ladle is in the Cottage pattern, which was patented in 1861. The front of the handle has a monogram of the letter G done in a Gothic font and the back is engraved with the inscription: From Auntie Hershman 12-7-20. The ladle was definitely made before the 1920 monogram date, and it is most likely from right around the 1860s or 1870s.
The handle is marked for Gorham and sterling silver purity.
This piece is in great condition for its age. There is some minor surface wear and a few dings to the bowl, but no major damages and no repairs.
