Presented is a great old Russian silver handled basket. This piece is made of silver and has a hinged handle on the top. The basket is oval and sits on a pierced base that runs the perimeter of the outside of the piece. One end of the basket is engraved with flowers, plants, and garlands. There is space within the engraving for a monogram. This piece was made in the late 1800's or early 1900's.
The basket is hallmarked on the bottom, on the hinge, and on the outside bottom. The 84 hallmarks are the Russian purity mark for 875/1000 silver and the maker's mark. The marks are repeated more than once. This basket is in excellent condition and there are no cracks, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, no repairs, and no problems of any kind.
The basket is 8 inches long.
The basket is 6 1/8 inches wide.
The basket is 6 3/4 inches tall with the handle up.
The basket is 2 1/2 inches tall with the handle down.
The basket weighs 451 grams or 14.5 troy ounces.
