Presented is a wonderful German silver and clear glass bowl or dish, dating to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The silver portion of the bowl features detailed genre scenes of groups of women gathering flowers, surrounded by classical scroll, floral and trelliswork designs. The silver is done in an intricate openwork design, but can still be used as a solid bowl because of the clear glass liner. The glass liner fits perfectly inside the bowl and is undoubtedly original. The interior of the silver portion has a rich gold wash.

This piece is in great condition. The details of the design are nice and crisp. There is a fair amount of black in the recesses of the design and some overall tarnish, which we have not cleaned up, opting to leave the piece mostly as we found it, but of course you can polish it up to whatever degree you prefer. The glass liner has no chips, no cracks, and no repairs. The silver has no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

This piece is hallmarked with the German crescent moon and crown as well as 800 for the purity of the silver.

The bowl is about 6 1/4 inches in diameter and stands about 2 3/4 inches tall.

The total weight for the piece, including the glass liner, is 352 grams.

The weight of just the silver portion is 171 grams or 6.0 regular ounces. -jm
