Presented is a beautiful, sterling silver candy or nut dish made by the Whiting Manufacturing Company during the late 1890s or very early 1900s. The rim and handles of the decorative dish are done in the Heraldic pattern, which was patented in 1880. The center has a gold was, is done in a lovely lobed or ruffled form and has an old, original monogram of the initials JMA. The dish is raised on 4 ball form feet.
The underside is marked for Whiting, sterling silver and the retailer Howard & Company.
The dish measures 5 3/4 inches from handle to handle and is 1 3/4 inches tall.
