Presented is a very fine German silver dish or platter made by Eduard Wollenweber in the late 1800s and retailed by Emile Puiforcat. The platter is done in a nice six-lobed form. The rim has wonderful quality decorations in the form of crossed ribbons, overlapping scale and leaf designs. The inside of the rim has an elegant beaded border. The dish has never been monogrammed.
The platter is marked on the underside of the rim with 800 for 800 purity silver, the crescent and crown mark of Germany used from 1886, and ED WOLLENWEBER for the maker. There is also a retailer's mark for Puiforcat.
The condition is excellent. The decorations are crisp and clear. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The plate measures approximately 12 inches in diameter and 3/4 inch high.
The plate weighs 823.7 grams or 29.1 ounces.
