Presented is a fabulous quality American sterling silver coffee or tea pot. This piece was made by Bigelow, Kennard & Co, and dates to circa 1882. The pot is done in a lovely classical style, with a ribbed design on the lower part of the body. The handle and the finial of the lid are made from rich dark wood. The underside of the pot has a presentation that reads 'C.E. Perkins, Sept. 22, 1882.' One side of the pot has an interesting engraved crest of a pineapple amidst leaves or flames.
The pot is in great condition. The handle is tight to the body. The lid opens smoothly and the hinge of the lid is in great shape. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The underside of the pot is stamped with the maker's mark for Bigelow, Kennard & Co as well as sterling.
The pot is about 8 3/4 inches tall.
The pot weighs 701 grams or 24.7 regular ounces.
