Presented is a lovely, sterling silver sugar, berry, ice cream or small serving spoon made by the Gorham Manufacturing Company during the late 19th century. This piece is in the Japanese pattern and was patented circa 1871. This piece is old, original production from the 1870s or 1880s. The handle is beautifully decorated with a raised peacock design and Japanese flowers. The bowl is hand engraved with bright cut designs. There is a pretty monogram on the back of the handle of the letters ESR. Much of the spoon has a slight gold wash.
The back is marked with the old Gorham hallmark and sterling.
This piece is in fabulous overall condition and the designs are crisp. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The spoon measures 6 5/8 inches long and weighs 33.7 grams.
