Antique c1860s Neat 14k Gold Hand Engraved Cross Pendant Watch Key Fob

Presented is a fabulous 14 karat gold watch key fob or pendant in the form of a cross. This piece dates to around the 1850s-1870s and is likely of European make, possibly Swiss or French. The cross is beautifully hand engraved on all sides, with delicate scrolled foliate designs on the front and back and diamond diaperwork on the sides. The cross slides up to reveal a watch key end, about a size 7 by our estimate, compared to example watch keys in varying sizes. This is a really exceptionally well constructed piece, and the decoration is very well done, making it attractive as well as useful. You could easily wear this as a cross pendant and no one would ever know about its watch winding function.

This piece is in great condition. The details of the engraved designs are nice and crisp. The slide mechanism functions well. The watch key portion looks to be in good shape and will absolutely still wind a watch nicely. There are no breaks and no repairs.

The cross is not stamped or hallmarked but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.

The cross is about 1 1/4 inches long.

This piece weighs 2.3 grams.
