Antique c1850 Jones Ball Poor Boston American Coin Silver Coffee Tea Set

Presented is an excellent, American coin silver tea or coffee set made by Jones, Ball & Poor of Boston between 1846 and 1853 when they were operating under this name. This is a rather large size set with three pieces of heavy weight. Each piece is raised on a step-form pedestal base and has a rounded fluted/panel body. The rims around the bodies and bases are done in a wonderful acanthus leaf design. The handles have large acanthus leaf accents and the two finials are done in a nice flame form. The tea or coffee pot has wooden heat insulators. The front of each piece is monogrammed with the inscription: SCF from SB and MB.

This set includes: 1 Tea or Coffee Pot: 9 3/4 inches from handle to spout and 10 7/8 inches tall. 1 Creamer: 6 3/8 inches from handle to spout and 8 3/4 inches tall. 1 Sugar Bowl: 8 1/4 inches from handle to handle and 10 1/2 inches tall.

The underside of each piece is marked Jones, Ball & Poor, pure coin and Boston.

This set is in good condition for its age. There are some pin-point sized dings to the bodies of each piece. The handles of the sugar bowl and teapot have some dents, as you can see in the photographs below. The creamer has to small solder repairs to the side, along the vertical flutes, which are visible in the third photograph below. There are no other flaws or other repairs.

The combined weight of the set is 1837 grams or 64.8 ounces.
