Presented is a tall, very fine quality, engraved glass serving, fruit or centerpiece bowl made in America in the mid 1800's. This extravagant piece has a lovely curl and point cut rim design, cut panels and hand-engraved grape leaves, vines and clusters in bold scale around the bowl. It has a fluted, paneled, hollow stem, and a brilliant hobstar centered in its broad round foot.
This piece is not signed but was most likely made by a high quality manufacturer such as the venerated Pairpoint Glass Company of Sagamore, Massachusetts, America's oldest glass company, founded in 1837.
This piece is in good condition and displays beautifully. There is some wear on the underside of the foot and inside the bowl, and a one noticeable chip on the rim's inside surface, and a few other trivial rough spot rim chips. Inspect our photos closely at maximum size to see in detail.
The bowl measures 10 inches in diameter and is 10 inches tall.
