Antique c1850 American Coin Silver Repousse Flower Single Handle Cup Mug
Regular price
$360.00
Presented is a charming American coin silver single handle cup or mug. This piece dates to around the 1840s-1860s, and was likely made in Boston or New York, although we don't know the maker. The body of the cup is done in a paneled octagonal form, with a continuous band of chased floral and foliate decoration around the widest point. The floral designs are hand chased, with hand engraved stems and leaves extending up into every other panel. The front of the cup has a presentation inscription reading "To Sarah E. Seaman From Her Grand Ma.'
The cup is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it and guarantee it to be coin (900) purity silver.
This piece is in great overall condition. The handle has an old re-solder where the bottom joins the body, which is not very noticeable. There are a couple of dings here and there, but nothing excessive. Otherwise, there are no splits, no breaks, no major dents, no monogram removals, and no other repairs.
The cup stands about 4 inches tall.
The cup weighs 112 grams or 4.0 regular ounces.
