Antique c1841-1845 American Coin Silver Tea Cup Mug by Bard and Lamont
Regular price
$540.00
Presented is a lovely American coin silver cup or mug. This piece was made by Bard & Lamont of Philadelphia, and dates to circa 1841-1845. The cup is done in a handsome paneled form, with a classical egg and dart border applied around the foot. The cup has a single handle done in a nice scrolled form, with a foliate thumbpiece.
This piece is in great overall condition. There has been a presentation inscription removed from the side, but this was well done and the silver is still sound. The bottom juncture of the handle and possibly the top juncture as well have been resoldered, but this is quite hard to notice. There are no splits, no leaks, no dents, no monograms, and no other repairs.
The underside of the cup is stamped with the maker's mark for Bard & Lamont, Philadelphia, PA silversmiths active in partnership from about 1841-1845. The cup is nitric acid tested and guaranteed coin (900) purity silver.
This piece measures about 4 1/2 inches in diameter and stands about 3 1/8 inches tall.
This piece weighs 175 grams or 6.2 regular ounces.
