Presented is a wonderful quality American coin silver teapot. This piece was made by F.W. Cooper of New York, and dates to the 1840s. The teapot is well made and quite handsome, with bands of decorative shell and leaf design around the body, rim, and base. The handle and spout are also adorned with leaf designs. The lid is hinged, and has a fruit shaped finial. This piece was made by hand with great care and skill, with hand hammering marks visible on the interior. The interior of the teapot is clean as can be, and this piece is completely ready for use.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is only the most insignificant surface wear to the piece. The handle is tight to the body and does not wiggle or feel loose. There are no splits, no dents, no leaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the maker's mark for F.W. Cooper, a New York maker. There is also a retail mark for M.W. Galt & Bros.
