Presented is a fine old German silver small teapot. This piece dates to around 1825-1850. The teapot is done in a lovely classical baluster form. The lid is not hinged but rather is removable. The finial and the handle are both carved from rich dark wood. The interior of the pot is clean and ready for use.

The pot is in great overall condition. There is an old solder repair in one of the creases, at the widest point of the body, on the left side of the spout. The handle is tight to the body and has no chipping or splitting. The pot has no leaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The pot is stamped on the underside with the German standing bear hallmark for the city of Berlin, with the letter K for the assayer. The letter B in a circle is probably the letter for the secondary assayer. The P&W is likely a maker's mark. This piece is probably 812 purity silver, based on the standards in use at the time.

The pot is about 6 3/4 inches tall. The teapot has a capacity of 2 cups/16 fluid ounces, or .5 liters.

This piece weighs 343 grams or 12.1 regular ounces. -jm
