Presented is a very nice American coin silver serving spoon by Phillip Garrett. This piece dates to circa 1801-1835. This is a large, long-handled spoon, sometimes called a platter or stuffing spoon, and is appropriate for any general serving purpose. The spoon is done in a very simple and clean style. The handle is monogrammed with 'P P*H' on the handle. The spoon is quite sturdy and well made, from thick silver.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is some surface wear throughout, as this piece has not been buffed. There is a small dent on the back of the bowl, at the tip, which is not visible in the front. There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The reverse of the stem is hallmarked with 'P. Garrett' for Phillip Garrett of Philadelphia.
This spoon is approximately 9 1/4 inches long.
This piece weighs 56.1 grams or 1.9 ounces.
