Presented is a wonderful, old English Sheffield fused silver plate hot water urn made circa 1800-1820. This piece is in great condition for its age and it has a beautiful finish/patina. The interior is incredibly clean and completely usable. The urn is in a very classical form, it is raised on four ball or bun feet and has a fabulous pair of detailed, three dimensional ram’s heads as handles. The spigot has a small dyed ivory finial and it is in working condition. The whole piece has been tested and is water tight. The piece has several bands of threaded design and the lid has a handsome, openwork finial. There is a small stamp of the letter S where the spigot meets the body. This piece was made with old, bolt construction as you can see when turning the piece over.
This piece is in great, usable condition. There are some surface dings to the piece, but they are minor. There are no missing pieces, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs. The interior of this piece is so clean that I would have to assume it has been professionally cleaned on the interior. The interior must've been re-plated or re-tinned. Unless this piece was never used I do not see how it would be possible for the interior to remain so spotless. It is actually a good thing that the interior is so clean, it makes this piece usable.
