Presented is an old, Asian silver tobacco or cigarette box made during the first half of the 1900s. This piece is probably from Thailand and is guaranteed to be at least 900 purity silver. The box has a wooden liner on the inside and the construction of the box is very unique, as the bottom portion of the box overlaps and is securely pinned or riveted to the side of the box. The whole entire piece is completely hand chased with a deity on the top, dancing, tribal men around the sides and a good luck elephant on the underside.
This piece is guaranteed to be at least 900 purity silver and could be as high as 925 sterling purity.
This piece is in excellent overall condition and the designs are very crisp. The hinge works well and the box closes tight. There are no damages and no repairs.
The box measures 3 5/8 by 3 5/8 and is 2 inches tall.
The box weighs 287 grams and virtually all the weight is silver, as the wooden liner does not account for much weight.
