Presented is a gorgeous, large sized Austrian fish set made during the late 1800s. This ornate set is all .800 silver purity, including the blade of the knife and the tines of the fork. There is no weighting in the handles, they are hollow silver. Although the handles are hollow they are very thick and strong. The knife blade is beautifully engraved with bright-cut leaf and scroll flourishes. The handles of both pieces are done in a fabulous, matte finish and have a twist design. The tip of each handle has a terrific shell design above a monogram of the letters P and M.
Each piece is marked with the Austrian .800 purity silver mark and a maker’s mark of the initials G & S.
This set is in virtually mint condition. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The knife measures 11 1/4 inches long, the fork measures 9 7/8 inches long and the combined weight of the pair is 253 grams or 8.9 ounces.
