Antique 19th Century Alvin Sterling Silver Floral Pedestal Bowl Compote Dish
Regular price
$3,444.00
Presented is a wonderful quality, heavy weight sterling silver pedestal bowl or compote made by the Alvin Manufacturing Company. The bowl has four bun feet and is raised up on a fluted base and supported with fancy scrolls and flowers. The bowl has a scalloped design around the rim. This piece is very well made and has great weight. It has never been monogrammed or engraved.
The underside of the compote is marked with a maker’s mark for Alvin, Sterling, and a product number. I believe this is the oldest hallmark that Alvin used. This bowl was likely made in the 1880s.
The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.
The bowl measures 11 7/8 inches in diameter and 4 1/2 inches tall.
The weight is 1230 grams or 43.1 ounces.
