Regular price
$508.00
Presented is an antique English sterling silver and frosted glass sugar caster or mufineer made by Edward John Haseler and Noble Haseler of London in 1903. The lining of the shaker is frosted clear glass, faintly translucent, removable for ease of cleaning. The glass insert fits the piece perfectly, it is clearly original. The openwork body has ribbon and bow festoons and the lid is pierced with lavish scrollwork designs. The lid has a bayonet style closure--to open or close the shaker, line the notches of the lid up with corresponding gaps in the side of the body and twist.
The body and lid are marked with the leopard's head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter h for the year 1903 and a maker's mark for the Haseler Brothers. The body is also marked for the retailer: Thornhill Ltd.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. The glass has no chips or cracks. The silver has no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Height: 7 inches.
The total weight for the piece (glass and silver both) weighs 304 grams.
The weight of just the sterling silver portion is 159 grams or 5.6 regular ounces.
