Presented is an antique, Dutch silver serving spoon made in 1888. This late 19th century piece is done in a classic Dutch Colonial style and the open, twisted shaft handle is topped with a full figural finial of a solider, warrior or perhaps a pirate. The back of the bowl is finely hand engraved with an ornate crest.
The bowl bears the Dutch lion passant for 833 minimum purity silver and a date letter D for the year 1888, while the shaft bears the Minerva head duty mark. The back of the bowl also has some old Dutch hallmarks.
This piece is in excellent condition, especially for its age and the designs are crisp. There are no damages or repairs.
