Antique 1879 Fine set 5 David Andersen Norwegian Silver 9" Dinner Forks

Regular price $720.00 $0.00 Unit price per

Presented is a fabulous set of 5 Norwegian silver dinner forks. These forks date to 1879 and were made by David Andersen. The forks have an elegant twist form stem. The terminal of the handle features a design of crossed stalks of wheat, with a flower and what looks like a maple seed, all against a textured background. The back of the handle is smooth, and could easily be monogrammed or presented. These are very large, sturdy forks, certainly dinner size, guaranteed to make an impression on any table setting.

This set is in great condition. The details of the pattern on the handle are quite crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The forks are stamped on the back above the tines with the maker's mark for David Andersen, as well as the date 1879 and the 13 1/4 lodig mark, for either 828 or 883 purity silver, depending on if the scale is out of 15 or out of 16. Below that is the name of the city in which David Andersen worked, Christiania (Oslo, today).

Each fork is about 9 inches long.

The total weight for the set is about 349 grams or 12.3 regular ounces.
