Antique 1830s Chamberlains English Worcester Porcelain Gilt Sauce Tureen
Presented is a wonderful quality, English Worcester porcelain or fine china sauce or gravy tureen with underplate made by Chamberlains during the 1830s or 1840s. The dish is raised on a foot rim and the lid has a pretty leaf finial. The tureen fits into a depression in the center of the plate and the plate has two decorative handles. There is a small hole in the lid for a ladle. The whole piece is completely hand crafted, hand painted and hand gilt.
This piece is not marked but is guaranteed to be Chamberlains. We acquired this piece as part of a matching set, and as you can see in some of our other auctions, the matching pieces all bear the Chamberlains Worcester hallmark.
This piece is in great condition for its age. There is a small chip to the rim of the tureen but no other damages and no repairs.
The dish measures 6 7/8 inches from handle to handle and is 6 5/8 inches tall while on the plate.
The under plate measures 8 1/4 inches from handle to handle.
